This tour is an exploration of the “Mediterranean” region of South Africa, the appealing province of the Western Cape. Starting at Addo Elephant National Park, the tour will first lead you into the discovery of the Garden Route: the magnificent Tsitsikamma Coastal National Park and Knysna area.
Getting closer to the whales and dolphins in the Indian Ocean and discovering the flora of Knysna sub tropical forests is part of this enchanting experience.
The tour will then take you to the Cederberg Mountain Range for a beautiful trek and later, to the magnificent wine region. Eventually we will reach the Cape peninsula, its Floral kingdom, its seal colonies and its mother city, Cape Town.
Day by day...
Days 1-2: Addo Elephant National Park
Your guide welcomes you on your arrival in Port Elizabeth. Immediate departure for Addo Elephant National Park. We enjoy game drives in the park for two days and overnight in chalets within the park.

Day 3: Knysna...
We depart Addo and stop at Tsitsikamma for lunch. We then continue to the small village of Knysna where we overnight in a lodge.
Day 4: Knysna…
On this morning, we go on a 3-4 hour hike in the dense Knysna forest, best known for its beautiful ancient trees and its few remaining elephants. The rest of the day will be spent on a safe swimming beach. Dinner at the restaurant.
Day 5: Oudtshoorn…
We leave for the Little Karoo driving through the panoramic road of the Swartberg . We visit an ostrich farm and have lunch on site. We then visit the famous Cango Caves! Overnight in a charming Guest House.
Day 6: Karoo…
Hiking day in the Karoo enjoying the semi desert mineral landscape, typical of the Karoo. Overnight same place.
Day 7: Karoo - Ceres…
We continue our journey through the magnificent landscapes of the Karoo, stopping for lunch in Montagu. Then we carry on towards Ceres, in the heart of a fruit farming valley. Overnight in a B&B. Dinner at the restaurant.
Day 8: Cederberg…
Morning departure towards the Cederberg mountainous massif. After a 3 hour hike, we reach a small remote village, home to about a hundred "coloured". We overnight in this tiny village and our diner will be served by the community.
Day 9: Cederberg…
After breakfast, we leave on a day hike (about 8 hours) towards the most untouched part of the massif. Overnight in a in a lodge in the Cederberg.
Day 10: Wine Route…
Departure for the Wine Route. We stop in Paarl for lunch and continue towards Stellenbosch, where we overnight in a Guest House. Rest of the afternoon at leisure.
Day 11: Stellenbosch - Franschoek…
This morning, we take a short walk (about 3 hours) in the Hottentots-Holland reserve in the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. The afternoon is spent exploring the vineyards and the local food. Overnight same place.
Day 12: Cape Peninsula…
This day is dedicated to exploring the spectacular Cape Peninsula, including the seal colony (boat cruise at your own expense), penguin colony at Boulders and, of course, the Cape of Good Hope at Cape Point. Overnight in a Guest House in Cape Town.
Day 13: Cape Town…
This morning, if the weather permits, we visit Table Mountain. You can either hike or take the cable car (at your own charge). Afternoon at leisure. Overnight same place.
Day 14: Cape Town…
We spend the last morning of the trip enjoying Cape Town’s many attractions. A last transfer to Cape Town international airport marks the end of the trip.
