This trip invites you to explore Namibia from the Namib desert to Victoria Falls, through Damaraland, Etosha National Park and the Caprivi. In 4x4 and on foot we discover the hidden secrets of the desert and we meet some charismatic people of this country such as the Damaras and the Himbas who have adapted themselves to a fragile and austere environment.

Then we cross over to the north-west through the Caprivi strip

where the landscape changes as we approach the Kavango river. We then stop over in Botswana to discover the Chove river before to end our journey in Victoria Falls.

This tour proposes accommodations in lodges and camping (with the option to spend all nights in lodges).

Day by Day...

Day 1: Windhoek…

Welcome by your guide at Windhoek airport. Overnight in a Guest House in Windhoek. This first day will give us the opportunity to talk about the tour and to get to know one another.

Days 2-3: Namib desert…

Today we set off for the Namib desert to Sesriem. Overnight in a lodge (or camping in Sesriem depending on option). Day2 we will climb a dune and enjoy the sunset over the Namib. Day3 we visit Sossususvlei and Dead Vlei, mainly on foot.

Day 4: Swakopmund…

We continue to Swakopmund passing through Walvis Bay to see the flamingoes. Overnight at Sam’s Giardino guesthouse (or equivalent) in Swakopmund.

Day 5: Brandberg - White Lady…

Today our journey takes us to Damaraland, which streches 200kms west of the Skeleton Coast, south of Koakoland. We reach the brandberg Mountains, which with its peak at 2573m represents the highest point in Namibia. The Brandberg is famous for hikers but also for its huge amount of bushmen (san) paintings, amongst which is the best known White-Lady. We will take a walk to see it (about 2 hours return). Overnight in bungalows at White Lady Lodge.

Day 6: Damaraland - Grootberg…

Early morning walk along the Ugab river in search of the wildife with the chance to spot the elusive desert adapted elephants. Then we depart to Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO world heritage site, to visit what is problably the best rock engraving (petroglyph) site of all Africa! We then

visit a Damara cultural village to learn about the ancestral traditions and cultures of these friendly people.Then we drive across te Grooberg pass and settle in a superb camping set among huge boulders.

Day 7: Damaraland - Grootberg…

This morning we do a 2-3 hours walk on the Grootberg concession. In the afternoon, we visit a local Himba community and learn about this charismatic tribe of Namibia.

Days 8-9: Etosha National Park…

Continuation to Etosha National Park. Etosha National Park is the largest park in the country and is most famous for its waterholes which offer great game sightings. Overnight in bungalow or camping depending on option.

Days 10-11: Caprivi strip : Kavango River…

Today we have a long transfert north-west towards the Caprivi and we observe along the way a sharp contrast with the regions we have seen so far. The area is much greener and many more local tribes live here. We overnight 2 nights in an atypical camp set along the kavango river. Day11 we do a game drive in Mahango Game Park, which has plenty of wildlife. In the afternoon, we do a 2 hours mokoro (traditional local canoes) trip until sunset.

Day 12: Kasane - Chobe (Botswana)…

We depart Namibia and enter Botswana where we overnight in a lodge in Kasane set along the Chobe River. Sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River with the chance to spot hippos, crocs, elephants and great bird life.

Days 13-14: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)…

We set off for Victoria Falls where we spend the last 2 nights in a Guest House or lodge depending on option. We visit Victoria Falls (entry at your own charge). Other optionnal activities (at your own charge) are many such as bungy jumping, rafting the Zambezi gorges, fly over the fall in helicopter or microlight etc...

Day 15: Victoria Falls - end…

Today you'll be dropped off at Victoria Falls airport. End of service.

Note: some trips might run in reverse direction

Minimum age: 12 years old.

Note: This trip can also be done with the option of all nights in lodges

In lodges, cooked by the team when camping, restaurants in town (pique-nique for lunch).

Difficulty and comfort...

This trip is accessible to most (children above 12 years old). Walks are not very demanding. A good fitness is nonetheless necessary.
